Year 2016 is on its way out. It’s been a wild ride for everyone around the globe, as so many earth-shattering events have happened this year. As John Lennon tells us: So, this is Christmas. What have we done?
Well, I can’t say much for the rest of the world, as I really don’t understand how it works anymore. What I can tell you is what I have managed to pull off this year in the midst of a chaotic world.
Three major things have happened to me this year. And I am grateful to the Universe for helping me through.
- William Elvin and the Circus Tour starts rolling forward.
It was only in February when Saturn Tiamson and myself first performed as a duo in the TEDx event held that month. In less than a year, we formed an unbelievably tight musical group with monthly shows in Hong Kong. You’ll hear more from myself, Saturn, Matt, and Rico this year. Just like in the geeky movie universes, this is only Phase One: The Circus Tour Assembles.
2. I am now a husband.
Not only did we manage to organize a quick wedding ceremony in Hong Kong this year, we also managed to have my lovely wife Tanya make her move to this region. Of course, it’s not a breeze and the transition is still taking its effects, but we’re pulling through nicely. Big props to my dad to helping out greatly.
3. “Mula sa Buwan” receives its deserved professional premiere.
This is not much of an accomplishment for me, but I am grateful for my collaborator and director Pat Valera for going 100% on this project. “Mula sa Buwan” is a retooling of our 2010 production of a ‘Cyrano de Bergerac’ Filipino musical adapation. This year, it has made its first professional staging under Pat’s Black Box Productions at the Irwin Theater in Ateneo de Manila. 2017 is going to be an exciting year for the production too, as it gets ready for a February staging and a very possible public reading and performance here in Hong Kong.
So there goes the big year. I look forward to sharing more accomplished goals and achievements in 2017.
May you all have an awesome holiday season! Merry Christmas/Happy Hannukah/Awesome Winter Solstice to all of you! 🙂
